Abstract
My paper explores the literary culture of Cantonese-speaking Hong Kong writers from 1989 to the handover of Hong Kong in 1997. It explores the origins of Sinophone literature and tells the story of how Hong Kong developed a language of resistance in the 1990s, a critical decade of literary and cultural debates arisen from the Tiananmen Incident of China in 1989.
