With global population likely to increase by 3 billion mouths, productive land area is threatened by urbanisation and climate change impacts, whilst life-style expectations for meat consumption are also increasing. After a brief introduction, there will be an opportunity to discuss how to balance the key issues. Are there realistic means to enhance sustainable crop productivity, or reduce crop and food wastage, and improve food distribution? In a globalised economy, how should we tackle issues locally to maximise education and empowerment of women and encourage food and energy security?
