Abstract
The restoration of paintings often happens behind closed doors. This talk aims to give a brief introduction into the conservation of paintings. With the help of the School of Botticelli tondo depicting Virgin and Child, which was recently treated at the Hamilton Kerr Institute, a conservation treatment including structural, conservation, and restoration processes will be explained.
