Abstract
Given two asymptotically cylindrical Calabi-Yau threefolds, with matching asymptotics, we may ask whether they can be glued to give a Calabi-Yau threefold. I will explain this problem and why it is not as straightforward as we might like, and also how it can be done, using an extra dimension to simplify the problem.
