Abstract
This presentation will principally cover an overview of the Foundation’s activities and priorities in fields linked to drug and drug delivery device development.
Stephen will specifically highlight in the field of drug delivery devices and drug development challenges that the division he is in (Integrated Development) focuses on supporting, covering an active portfolio of $1 Billion. Integrated Development focuses their work in the fields of manufacturing and scale up from the laboratory, global regulatory systems and strategy, and quantitative sciences.
Another critical consideration his team addresses is asking what unique aspects low resource settings applications must be considered to maximize likelihood of development and implementation success.
There will be an opportunity after the talk to discuss research funding at Gates, how it works and other career interests.
Stephen (https://www.linkedin.com/in/stegerrard) completed his BA, MEng, PhD and Post Doc at Cambridge in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, where he developed a novel drug delivery mechanism he invented for breastfeeding infants for low resource setting applications (see justmilk.org), before moving on to the Gates Foundation.
