Abstract
Paolo Scaroni, Deputy Chairman of the Rothschild Group and former CEO of Eni will be this year’s speaker at Pembroke’s 8th annual Keith G Sykes Lecture in Italian Studies.
Dr Scaroni will be interviewed by Chris Smith, Lord Smith of Finsbury, Master of Pembroke College, on topics related to the Italian economy, the energy market (scenarios, innovation and policy), the crisis in North Africa and the role of Italy and EU in the region, in particular in Libya and Egypt.
Dr Scaroni served as the CEO of Eni from June 2006 to May 2014. Eni is an integrated energy company employing more than 29,000 people in 66 countries in the world, with a market capitalization of 50 billion euros, as of August 2015. The company is the largest foreign energy producer in Africa. Dr Scaroni joined the Rothschild Group after leaving Eni and works particularly closely with the Group’s Global Financial Advisory business.
