Abstract
The UK banking industry’s response to online fraud is regularly criticised by both journalists and by more informed commentators. The seminar will look at the economic and practical realities of current fraud issues – phishing and its variants, advanced fee, internationalisation of fraud and (the general lack of) law enforcement response.Ã Technical and procedural measures to improve matters will be discussed, including the complexities of the proper use of “strong authentication” technologies.
