Abstract
Human papillomaviruses infect the skin and mucous membranes, usually resulting in mild symptoms. Unfortunately, a small subgroup are capable of causing cancers. Professor Stanley studies these viruses, how they cause disease and why the recently introduced vaccination programs could eradicate cervical cancers in some countries.
