Abstract
This talk will be an introduction to determinantal point processes—-statistical systems of many particles whose $k$-point correlation functions are given as the determinant of a $k\times k$ matrix for each $k$. Such systems arise in the study of log gases at algebraically special temperatures. Highlights of this talk include the use of Hermite polynomials and a proof of Gaudin’s Awesome Lemma.
