Abstract
It is know that every CAT group contains a hyperbolic element, but it is still an open question if a CAT group can contain a (needs be) finitely generated infinite torsion subgroup. (For cube complexes the answer is no by the strong Tits alternative of Caprace and Sageev.) I will demonstrate some of the restrictions on such a subgroup.
