Abstract
The quality of human life depends on how we treat each other. Evolutionary biologists often study “altruism” in humans and other animals. What are the mechanisms by which “altruism” evolves and is maintained? How can the results from evolutionary biology inform the development of social policy? Can they help us to reform our political system?
