Authority and confirmation bias in academic conversations
- ๐ค Speaker: Prof Rae Langton, Cambridge Philosophy Faculty

- ๐ Venue: English Faculty Room GR05
Abstract
Conversations are governed by co-operative principles, but also by gendered assumptions about authority, and confirmation bias. Conversations in academic contexts are no exception. I want to consider how these factors can affect the success of a speakerโs contributions, and how they can be addressed.
All welcome.
