Abstract
Affect sharing and self-other distinction are fundamental components of empathy. Based on a multi-method and multi-level approach, the neural underpinnings of these components as well as their interplay will be discussed. I will also address how factors such as stress and healthy aging may affect them, and how this influences moral decision making and prosocial behavior.
