Abstract
In Classical Antiquity, Athenian democracy defended a radical form of freedom, referred to as ‘the power to do what one wants’. In this seminar, we shall have a look at the way intellectuals reacted to it and how, thanks to Plato and the Stoics, the Democratic conception of freedom managed to stay alive long after the death of Ancient democracy.
