Abstract
I’ll start with a quick history of pixels, beginning in England in the late 1940s, then jump to the first color pixels at Xerox PARC in the 1970s, then to first full-color pixels at New York Institute of Technology, to Lucasfilm early 1980s, to Pixar late 1980s, and beyond – perhaps to VR. We’ll ride the astonishing Moore’s Law explosion together and try to glimpse the future ever so slightly. I’ll show pictures and video snippets of obscure – and not so obscure – animations. I’ll give my take on the possibility of “replacing” actors. I’ll explain the title, of course.
