Seminars for Undergraduates

A few years ago Norman Gilbreath gave a lecture at the Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood, California and everything in the lecture was based on mathematics. The lecture was called “Not a Sleight in Sight” and the very unusual applications of mathematics will be fully explained in this talk. The focus of the lecture will be on the significant impact that notation can have upon the creative process.

While at U.C.L.A. Mr. Gilbreath specialized in the logical foundations of mathematics under Professor C.C. Chang, who studied under Alfred Tarski. Mr. Gilbreath has presented many of these insights at the RAND corporation, where he is an alumni member.
