Algebraic torsion, introduced by Latschev-Wendl, is an invariant which provides a hierarchy of fillability obstructions in the category of all contact manifolds, in such a way that overtwistedness implies algebraic 0-torsion, and the presence of Giroux torsion implies algebraic 1-torsion. Latschev-Wendl construct examples in dimension 3 of contact manifolds with any given order of torsion. I will sketch the construction of a 5-dimensional contact manifold with algebraic 2-torsion, but not 1-torsion, and discuss candidates in any odd dimension.
