The advent of massive online social networks has allowed us to map the way in which individuals interact and mutually influence each other. By directly observing what is being shared publicly we can also track how individual pieces of information or memes diffuse along the edges of the network.

We present simple models that combine information and social layers and that are able to predict the main features of the interplay between geography and social interactions. In addition, we will analyze how the location impacts human mobility, social structure and language use at different spatial scales.
