Travel Tracking with CarbonHero
- đ¤ Speaker: Nick Burch and Andreas Zachariah
- đ Date & Time: Monday 29 October 2007, 16:15 - 17:15
- đ Venue: FW26, William Gates Building
Abstract
Personal travel can have a large impact on your carbon footprint, but has traditionally been one of the harder areas to accurately track. With the rise of powerful, gps enabled mobile phones, that is set to change. It is now possible to programatically and autonomously figure out a person’s method of transport based on their position over time, speed, and proximity to transport nodes.
Nick and Andreas will be talking about CarbonHero, their mobile phone application which tracks travel and informs the user of the CO2 impact from it. The talk will particularly focus on the travel matching algorithms.
