Abstract
A review of the last 15 years of informal observation and trial and improvement of ‘meeting experience design’ in industry revealing some clues about:- why exactly meetings are decried as taking too much time, generating ineffective outcomes and reducing energy for the rest of day …
- what I’ve learnt that works better (with some ideas for your own meetings) but…
- why organisations and teams seem to deeply resist shifting to a different way
- what the literature can already tell us about group interactions and the system in which meetings take place, and where the gaps might be
- the sources of improvement in meeting outcomes – where might research most usefully be directed in search of a shift forward in our knowledge and practice
