DESCRIPTION:Black hole accretion is well know to be mediated by MHD turbul
ence. Many numerical studies of these systems also find evidence for dynam
o action\, often seen as quasi-periodic buoyant expulsions of toroidal flu
x from the disk plane. Using a recent set of high-resolution numerical gl
obal models\, I will show that the dynamo may be imprint itself on the gro
ss aspects of the observed time variability and\, indeed\, it may be very
hard to gain an even qualitative understanding of the observations without
understanding the dynamo in more depth.
