DESCRIPTION:The effective mining of biological information depends strongl
 y on the semantic representation of large\, diverse and highly complex tex
 tual and non-textual datasets. Knowledge management has emerged as the bes
 t approach to address this challenge. In biomedical research the increasin
 gly broad multidisciplinarity in R&D\, combined with complex regulatory re
 quirements for product approval in industry\, present scientists with a pa
 rticularly difficult and time consuming task. The seminar will illustrate 
 the applications of semantic data integration in personalised medicine and
  patient stratification\, with examples in neuroscience and respiratory di
 sease in hospital settings.
