DESCRIPTION:Chris Rapley is a Professor of Climate Science at UCL. Profess
 or Rapley trained in physics\, and his early research focused on the devel
 opment and use of space-borne instruments to study the solar system and co
 smos. Today\, he researches the changing polar environments\, and is deepl
 y involved in the public understanding of climate change\, and the role of
  scientists in communicating with policy makers and the public. One not to
  miss!\n\nFrom 1998 to 2007 he was Director of the British Antarctic Surve
 y\, and from 2007 to 2010 was Director of the Science Museum in London. To
 gether with playwright Duncan Macmillan\, Professor Rapley wrote the play 
 ‘2071: The World We’ll Leave our Grandchildren’\, which was staged a
 t the Royal Court. In 2008 he was awarded the Edinburgh Science Medal – 
 “For professional achievements judged to have made a significant contrib
 ution to the understanding and well-being of humanity”.\n\nFree talk\, f
