DESCRIPTION:The averaging methods play a crucial role when studying the dy
 namics of particle populations. Among the main applications\, we mention t
 he magnetic confinement\, which concerns the transport of charged particle
 s under strong magnetic fields. The main tool is the average operator alon
 g a characteristic flow. We perform the asymptotic analysis for first orde
 r and second order (parabolic) problems with stiff transport terms.
