DESCRIPTION:The people that work in data centres are often curiously absen
 t from the science fictional images of these buildings that circulate in t
 he mass media. Drawing from ethnographic fieldwork conducted in subterrane
 an data bunkers\, this talk will explore the social dimensions of ‘Big D
 ata’ from an anthropological perspective\, examining how this visual eli
 sion relates to imaginaries of data as objective\, neutral and free from t
 he contaminating agency of human beings.\n
