DESCRIPTION:Women have made significant contributions to science from the 
 earliest times\, and yet they face significant barriers to succeed in thei
 r careers.\n\nAlthough women account for the majority of the bachelor degr
 ees in sciences in the Western countries\, each step up the ladder of the 
 scientific research system sees a drop in female participation until\, at 
 the highest echelons of scientific research and decision-making\, there ar
 e very few women left.\n\nWe would like to invite you to this event in whi
 ch extremely talented and inspiring scientist women will showcase their wo
 rk and reflect on gender inequality in science and what we can learn from 
 the past to fight it and improve the future.\n\nTo mark ‘International D
 ay of Women and Girls in Science’(11th Feb) this seminar will focus on c
 areer development on the varied range of women scientists are involved in 
 and the role of gender within research and science.\n\nThere will be an op
 portunity to network and ask questions during a FREE cheese and wine recep
