DESCRIPTION:On 22th Feb we'll host Dr Shai Vyakarnam from Cranfield Univer
sity for an interactive discussion on the challenges of scaling small busi
nesses.\n\nShai's talk is based on his latest book Camels\, Tigers & Unico
rns: Rethinking Science and Technology-Enabled Innovation\, co-authored wi
th Uday Phadke.\n\nThere is increasing understanding of the very early sta
ges of taking an idea to market\, but what is not understood as well are t
he challenges of the early steps in scaling the business. This is often re
ferred to simply as “death valley curve”. But for us to make a differe
nce with our research we need to understand the journey of “going to mar
ket” in more fine grained ways so that we can be more precise in meeting
the needs of society and customers as well as being able to allocate reso
urces and take relevant management decisions.\n\nThis event is open to eve
ryone (you don't have to be a postdoc!).\n\nThe talk will be followed by a
networking session with food and drinks.\n
