SUMMARY:The High Latitude Dust Project - Professor Jo Bullard\, Loughborou
 gh University

DESCRIPTION:Natural dust is often associated with hot\, subtropical desert
s\, but significant dust events have been reported from cold climates and
high latitudes. These have often been reported as ad hoc observations of i
ndividual events. Over the past ten years researchers at Loughborough Univ
ersity have been working with international colleagues to gain a more syst
ematic understanding of dust emissions at high latitudes and to consider t
he global contribution and impact of these emissions in the terrestrial\,
marine\, atmospheric and cryospheric systems of the Arctic and Antarctic.
This talk outlines the evolution of our high latitude dust research and pr
esents some of the main findings\, challenges and opportunities for future
  research.
