DESCRIPTION:In modern mathematical physics some of the most challenging pr
 oblems concern quantum theory of fields and Einsteinian gravity. My resear
 ch focuses on situations\, where these two meet\; examples include Black H
 oles and the early Universe. There are plenty of exciting physical problem
 s in this area of research\, but there is also some very interesting mathe
 matics. In this talk\, I will give a pedagogical overview of the topics I'
 m working on and present some of the mathematics involved in my research.
