DESCRIPTION:Over 3000 people (and 140 Cambridge students) have taken the G
 iving What We Can pledge to donate ≥10 % of their income to effective ca
 uses for the rest of their working life. We’ll hear from three of them a
 t this event:\n\nGeorgia - a consultant from London\nBen - an environmenta
 l economics PhD student at Cambridge\nTim - an engineering PhD student at 
 Imperial College\n\nGeorgia\, Ben and Tim will briefly talk about why they
  made this decision and how they find actually acting on it. There’ll be
  plenty of time for questions and discussion\, and because it's at dinner-
 time\, there'll be free pizza\, snacks\, beer and soft drinks.\n\nMany tho
 ughts may cross your mind when you hear about this 10% pledge:\n- Is that 
 actually going to change anything?\n- A “pledge” sounds elitist or unn
 ecessary\n- What is an “effective cause”?\n- 10% sounds like a lot\, I
  don’t even have a job yet.\n\nWe’ll be discussing difficult questions
  and choices like this in a relaxed environment. We hope you’ll leave fe
 eling inspired that we do have opportunities to change things for the bett
