DESCRIPTION:We are joined by Jan Chaudhry who is the Managing Director of 
 the UKs newest rail franchise\, West Midland Trains. A partnership between
  Abellio\, East Japan Railway and Mitsui\, WMT operates under two brands -
  the West Midland Railway and London NorthWestern. \n\nInterestingly\, the
  new franchise is not governed by the DfT\, but by a new transport body ca
 lled West Midland Rail. Thus this new direction for railway management\, a
 dded with a significant investment in new rolling stock. Might not only be
  the solution to the state of rail travel in the Midlands\, but also a mod
 el for other franchises to operate from. \n\nWe have previously heard from
  JR East and other Abellio franchises\, so it shall be interesting to hear
  of the partnership here.\n\nMixed audience\, from many different subject

 ...........\n\nAbout the CURC :\n\nFounded in 1911 from the Cambridge Univ
 ersity branch of The Railway Club\, Cambridge University Railway Club (CUR
 C) is the second oldest railway enthusiast club in the world! The CURC arr
 anges an event in Cambridge most weeks during Full Term\, most often a pre
 sentation by an invited speaker\, almost always a key professional from th
 e rail industry\, on a specific subject. The club is not just train talk\,
  but about how the railway works. We have a celebrated history of CURC alu
 mni who now work in the railway industry\, with some at quite senior level
 s.\n\nMembership for students costs £10 per year or £25 for life members
 hip. We charge £3 at the door for non-members\, upon your third entry to 
 a talk (first two talks are free). So come and try us out for free\, gain 
 exclusive access to key railway professionals and depots and you might jus
