DESCRIPTION:The radial velocity (RV) method is one of the most succesful m
ethods employed so far in the search for exoplanets. Its operating princip
le is to detect slight Doppler shifts in colour of stellar light that coul
d betray the presence of one or more planets. However\, the effect is extr
emely subtle and easily swamped by signatures of the fiery motion of stell
ar atmospheres. In this talk\, I will show how RV measurements intended fo
r exoplanet research can also be used to study stellar pulsations\, and ho
w the young field of asteroseismology can in turn help mapping more of the
  Milky Way’s faraway worlds.
