DESCRIPTION:The notion that the 1980s was a terrible decade for the Labour
  Party – and the British Left more broadly – is well established. It i
 s seen as a decade of defeat and destruction – ideologically\, political
 ly and electorally. This talk reconsiders Labour's fortunes and considers 
 whether a longer historical view allows us to see a more positive history 
 emerging.
