DESCRIPTION:Over the past 5 years Ben has led design charrettes and teams 
 for the\nmaster planning of new mixed use settlements to house over 100\,0
 00 people.\nOne of the latest plans for the new town of Sherford\, located
  in a\nbeautiful valley east of Plymouth\, is setting out to radically cha
 nge the\nway new places are built. The outline planning application has be
 en audited\nby the Building Research Establishment and scored the highest 
 rating to\ndate making it on paper the most sustainable new town to be bui
 lt in\nBritain. Ben will explain the principles and process of this propos
 al and\nshow other completed work to make the case for why this kind of ap
 proach is\na necessity in an age of accelerated population growth\, urban 
 migration and\nglobal warming.\n
