DESCRIPTION:Depression dramatically reduces quality of life for 17% of ind
ividuals in the United Kingdom. Psychological treatments for depression a
re effective for most people\, but there is still a significant number of
individuals who do not experience adequate improvement. Utilising cognitiv
e science to elucidate the cognitive factors that both drive depression an
d underpin treatment change is vital to improving psychological treatments
. This talk will discuss how basic cognitive science is being translated i
nto new treatment options. In particular\, the development of novel memory
 -based interventions will be discussed.
