DESCRIPTION:It has been suggested that mito-nuclear interactions may poten
tially be harmful to individuals conceived through mitochondrial replaceme
t therapy (MRT). In my talk I will consider this problem from an evolution
ary perspective. I will argue that deleterious mito-nuclear interactions\,
though they may exist\, are unlikely to be more common amongst individual
s born to MRT than normal conception. I will present evidence from model o
 rgansisms which supports this conjecture.
