DESCRIPTION:*Abstract* Data science is booming. Some of its success comes
from using the rigorous intellectual framework of the natural sciences and
in particular physics. In this talk I will discuss what data science can
learn from physics and what physics can learn from data science. I will al
so share my personal journey from theoretical physics to data science and
science communication.\n\n*Bio* Berebichez is the Chief Data Scientist at
Metis\, a leading data science training provider. She is a Mexican physici
 st\, data scientist\, TV host (co-host from 2012 of Discovery Channel’s
Outrageous Acts of Science TV show\, where she uses her knowledge of phys
ics to explain the science behind extraordinary engineering feats)\, educa
tor and entrepreneur who dedicates her career to promoting education in sc
ience\, technology\, engineering and maths (STEM) fields. She was the firs
t Mexican woman to graduate with a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford Universi
 ty.
