DESCRIPTION:It has long been proposed that higher order moments of the den
sity field or even the complete one-point PDF of density encodes a rich am
ount of cosmological information. However\, measuring these quantities has
been very difficult\, e.g. because of galaxy stochasticity. With density
split statistics (DSS) one can simultaneously study the PDF of matter dens
ity and the PDF of galaxy density. Our modeling based on perturbation theo
ry of the density field thus enables us to learn about the background cosm
ology\, the skewness of the density field and the bias and stochasticity o
f halos at the same time. I will present our model as well as results of o
 ur DES year 1 analysis.
