DESCRIPTION:By improving our statistical understanding of the X-ray diffra
 ction experiment\, we are able to develop new likelihood-based methods to 
 solve the crystal structures of proteins.  These are implemented in our pr
 ogram\, _Phaser_ (http://www-structmed.cimr.cam.ac.uk/phaser/index.html). 
  Some of the general concepts and results will be presented.
