DESCRIPTION:The case will be made that Multiplication is NOT repeated addi
 tion\, though repeated addition is of course an instance of multiplication
 . Participants will be invited to engage in tasks which expose some of the
  mathematical subtleties of multiplication. In particular we will look at 
 scaling and the contexts in which it is\, and is not commutative.
