DESCRIPTION:I will discuss recent joint works with K. Fujiwara and with C.
  Sert around the notion of joint spectral radius\, first introduced by Rot
 a and Strang in the 60's. I will present geometric analogues of this notio
 n in hyperbolic spaces and non-positively curved spaces\, as well as its m
 ultidimensional analogues in the Weyl chamber of semisimple Lie groups. Co
 nnections to growth in groups and random walks will also be mentioned.
