DESCRIPTION:The increasing severity and frequency of high-impact weather e
vents means more of us are living under the threat of flooding\, heat wave
s\, or drought. To increase our resilience to these events\, there is an u
rgent need to reduce uncertainties in regional climate predictions\, and p
roduce information which is more useful and actionable for business\, supp
ly chains\, and policy makers. By the way of real-world examples\, in thes
e talks we will explore the various statistical methods and datasets used
 to help reduce climate-induced socio-economic stress. \n\nSpeakers:\n\nPro
f Richard Chandler (UCL) – Statistical approaches for representing local
climate events\n\nDr Dann Mitchell (Bristol) – Climate impacts in a 1.5
C world\n\nDr Leon Kapetas (Cambridge) – Adaptation pathways to support
urban drainage infrastructure planning in an uncertain future\n\n
