DESCRIPTION:Winton teatime discussion hosted by Jim Platts\, Institute of
Manufacturing\, who has worked in industry and academia for a combined tot
al of nearly 50 years in the area of design\, development and manufacture
of the large composite moulded blades for wind turbines.\n\nThe discussion
with revolve around how an industry grows based on the assumption that co
mpletely unexpected problems always arise that threaten its long term viab
ility. In the enthusiasm of a rapidly growing and seemingly very successf
ul industry like the global wind industry\, these problems can be not mere
ly missed but actively ignored. But it is fatal to do so. There are thin
gs that concern the industry's sustainability that need attention.\n\nRefr
eshments will be available and all are welcome to join the discussion.
