DESCRIPTION:Title: Quantum non-locality and beyond\n\nAbstract: \n\nOne of
  the most exotic aspects of the behaviour of microscopic particles\, such 
 as electrons\, atoms\, photons\, etc.\, is quantum non-locality. Microscop
 ic particles which have interacted in the past and then moved far from eac
 h other\, remain\, in a certain sense\, still connected\, and can instanta
 neously \\"communicate\\" with each other (in apparent but not real contra
 diction with Einstein\\'s relativity). In my talk I will first explain the
  basic concept of non-locality\, then I will present some of its uses in q
 uantum information and communication - strange effects such as teleportati
 on\, etc. Finally I will discuss the implications of non-locality for unde
 rstanding the very foundations of quantum mechanics.
