SUMMARY:Gravitational Waves from Axion Stars - Thomas Helfer (King's Colle
 ge London)

DESCRIPTION:I will talk about the GW signatures from the collisions of Axi
on Stars -- which are long-lived non-topological solutions of massive scal
ar fields. I will discuss their stability and their possible end-states\,
dispersion or Black Hole formation. I will describe the technical challeng
es and present the GW wave forms of such collisions calculated using the n
umerical relativity code GRCHOMBO. I will show that for black hole end sta
tes\, the total gravitational waves energy released in such collisions is
more than that of BH-BH collisions of equal masses by a significant amount
. If you are interested to explore these exotic events in Virtual Reality\
, please stay after the question session.
