DESCRIPTION:Research: On-body sensor network for sports applications\, Mar
celo Pias\n\nIn this talk I will give an overview of a handful of system i
ssues we face in designing on-body sensor networks for sports applications
. I will first introduce the overall Sesame vision and its technical requi
rements to support experimentation with sprinters. Then I will describe ou
r choices for wireless sensor platforms (from Bluetooth\, Zigbee to Wifi)
\, the issue of synchronisation of heterogeneous sensor systems and discus
s briefly our current on-body sensor development: in-sole pressure sensor
systems synchronised with inertial sensors.\n\nResearch: Water Distributio
n Network System: Channel Modeling Study\, Min Lin\n\nHistorically\, wirel
ess sensor networks have mainly addressed military applications. However\,
in recent years\, many civilian applications\, such as managing inventory
\, monitoring product quality and monitoring disaster zones have emerged.
Various technical issues\, such as power consumption\, radio propagation m
odels\, routing protocols\, sensors etc need to be considered for differen
t applications. In this project\, we propose a particular application for
wireless sensor networks\, specifically a water distribution network monit
oring system. A possible communication model for the water distribution mo
nitoring network was proposed. In this presentation\, I will present some
results that have been published for a paper and my current works on the n
ew results\, which can potentially lead to an analytical model of the netw
 ork system.\n\n
