DESCRIPTION:\nWe will have a talk from Oliver Stegle in the Inference Grou
 p at the Cavendish Laboratory. Oliver "uses python for scientific computin
 g as a 'matlab replacement' that provides the functionality of a 'proper' 
 programming language".\n\nThe title of his talk is: Python for Scientific 
 computing\n\nAbstract: Programming languages for scientific computing are 
 numerous. Recently particular languages that allow for rapid development h
 ave gained much popularity. Oliver will give an overview of Python as a pr
 ogramming language and point out its benefits for rapid and interactive de
 velopment of software for scientific computing. The talk will also include
  a comparison to alternative languages like Matlab\, R or native C-impleme
 ntation and hint at options to interface with those languages.
