DESCRIPTION:In this lecture series\, I will introduce the basic framework 
 of quantum Yang-Mills theories and lattice gauge theories from the probabi
 list&rsquo\;s point of view. A summary of available rigorous results and o
 pen problems will be given. This will be followed by a discussion of gauge
 -string duality\, large N lattice gauge theories\, and some recent results
 . In the first lecture\, I will introduce the physical description of quan
 tum Yang-Mills theories. I will also briefly discuss Wilson loops\, quark 
 confinement\, and perturbative expansions.
