DESCRIPTION:We present Flicker\, an architecture that allows code to execu
te in\ncomplete isolation from other software while trusting only a tiny\n
software base that is orders of magnitude smaller than even minimalist\nvi
rtual machine monitors. Flicker can also provide\nfine-grained attestatio
n of the code executed (as well as its inputs\nand outputs) to a remote pa
rty. Our technique enables more\nmeaningful attestation than previous pro
posals\, since only\nmeasurements of the security-sensitive portions of an
application need\nto be included. We achieve these guarantees by leveragi
ng hardware\nsupport provided by commodity processors from AMD and Intel t
hat are\nshipping today\, and without requiring a new operating system.\n
