DESCRIPTION:Modern emissions legislation contains requirements for the tes
ting of Real world Driving Emissions (RDE) to be incorporated in to the ce
rtification of new vehicles. In this talk\, Dr Peckham of Cambustion discu
sses some results taken with fast response emissions analysers around Camb
ridge and London. The results show the effects of traffic conditions\, spe
ed bumps and other transient driving features on the emissions of various
vehicles and accurately locates the position of the pollution “hot spots
”. The engineering causes of the emissions is also discussed.\n\nMark Pe
ckham is a director at Cambustion (a spin-off company from Cambridge Unive
rsity Engineering Dept in 1987). He graduated from Edinburgh University in
1990 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to complete his
PhD at Emmanuel College Cambridge in 1993. After a brief time at Ricardo i
n Shoreham\, he returned to Cambridge to work for Cambustion where he has
helped develop new emissions-related instrumentation and provides technica
l support to his customers worldwide. He has a particular interest in in-c
ylinder sampling and tonight’s talk involves his current area of interes
t: Real world Driving Emissions. The reasons behind the vehicle producing
such emissions is discussed and also their locations\; identified on stre
et maps via the use of GPS co-ordinates.\n \nTo make a booking please go t
